As we step into the new year, it’s the perfect time to do a wardrobe audit and consider our personal style intentions for 2024. Whether you’re a fashion enthusiast or someone looking to make a few subtle changes, setting style goals for 2024 can be a rewarding practice. I’ve found that setting a few clear intentions has helped me elevate my style and build a wardrobe I love and actually wear!
My style intentions for 2024
This year, my style intentions focus on refining my personal style and shopping my values. First off is a pause on shopping with a 90-day No Buy to reset my relationship with shopping so I can appreciate what I already own. I also intend to get dressed every day so it will become a daily ritual. Even if it’s just a cosy work-from-home outfit, there needs to be some intentionality behind it because research shows getting dressed helps elevate mood and performance. Let’s explore some of the style goals I’m setting this year to help inspire your fashion journey in the coming year.
Here’s what I’m focusing on in 2024:
- Styling over shopping 🛍️
- Beginning the year with a 90-day No Buy
- Get dressed every day🪞💃🏻
- Make dressing up a daily ritual to boost creativity and mood
- Add more colour 🍭
- Expand my colour palette from mostly neutrals to include some bold colours I gravitate towards like royal blue and hunter green
- >75% of additions from ethical sources 🌿♻️
- Any new-to-me items should come from ethical sources like secondhand, sustainable brands or swapped.
- Stick to wish list items 🙏🗒️
- Focus new additions to my wardrobe on the high-end items on my wish list rather than many unnecessary items.
- Reuse, repurpose, and repair clothing I already own 🪄🧵
- Instead of shopping first, see how I can bring new life into my existing pieces
- Rent for big occasions, rather than buy new 🪩🥂
- With a handful of weddings this year, I want to have fun dressing up but don’t need something new for each event.
What are your style goals?
Let 2024 be the year your style becomes a reflection of your personality, values, and aspirations. If you’re new to sustainable style, some simple goals to start with could be “outfit repeat” or “avoid fast fashion.” Or, if susty fashion is already a key value of yours, you can try more challenging goals. Think “only add five new items” or “challenge yourself with a fashion DIY.”
Style goals can help you embrace sustainability, experiment with bold colors, or refine your wardrobe with timeless classics. Goals can help select style choices that make you feel your most confident and align with your values. Let me know what your style goals are for the upcoming year in the comments below!
