With the May long weekend approaching, I’m headed back home to the east coast of Canada to see my family and friends for two weeks. With its temperamental weather, packing for a longer duration trip with multiple stops can be tricky. And I plan to do it with only a carry on. 🙃
I’m originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia and most of my family and many friends call the city home so I try to visit throughout the year. While I’m on the east coast, I’ll also be headed to St. John’s, Newfoundland with my girlfriends for the very first time! I’m excited to be screeched in, admire the rugged landscape, and hopefully see some icebergs.
Temperatures for this time of year are expected to be 13° to 17° C (55° to 63° F) during the day with lows at night of 3° to 6° C (38° to 41° F). We’re also planning a whale watching boat trip and possibly mixing in a hike so packing for multiple scenarios and climates is key.

But first, the inspiration. Putting together a mood board helps me mindfully curate any capsule wardrobe. I knew I would want cosy pieces for lounging at our Airbnb or enjoying a pub lunch. There would likely be many evenings out so I needed items that could also be dressed up. I highly recommend this before any trip!

What to pack for two weeks on the coast
I’m bringing 26 pieces in total, including clothing, shoe options, and accessories. Below you will find 18 outfit combinations, one for each day and then some to accommodate those dinner dates. 😉 I’ve included some casual options for your travel journey, lounging at the hotel, or long walks. Some dressier outfits should you find yourself going out to dinner or for a cocktail. And polished casual outfits for your daily excursions around town or to a museum.
